North African women discuss their realities

African Women's Day: bravery in the face of everyday life

What is the place of African women here in Ontario?

July 31 is International African Women’s Day, decreed in 1974 at the first Congress of the Pan-African Women’s Organization (PAWO), formerly the African Women’s Conference. On July 31, 1962, women from all over Africa converged on Tanzania to create this first women’s organization.

The host of Le matin du Nord, Elsie Miclisse, welcomes four women to discuss the importance of this day and the living conditions of African women.

Marie Thérèse Awitor represented Akwaba Community at this interview.
