Reflections and discussion on International African Women's Day
For the second year running, Akwaba Community is organizing activities to mark IAWD.
July 31 is International African Women’s Day, decreed in 1974 at the first Congress of the Pan-African Women’s Organization (PAWO), formerly the African Women’s Conference. On July 31, 1962, women from all over Africa converged on Tanzania to create this first women’s organization.
The show’s host of À échelle humaine, Gabrielle Sabourin welcomes three African women to discuss the importance of this day and the living conditions of African women.
They are: Mariama Touré, founder of WIA, Carol Offi, Edmonton journalist and Edith Taki, Akwaba Community General Secretary.
